YouTube propaganda for the UN indoctrination program

The YouTube logoIn the novel Nineteen Eighty-Four (1949), by George Orwell, Newspeak is the fictional language of Oceania, a totalitarian superstate. It was a form of indoctrination promoted by the government (Big Brother) to diminish the possibility of critical thought. It enabled them to control the people’s minds.

Did you realize that the United Nations (UN) uses YouTube to indoctrinate us about climate change? When I was researching the internet for my post on “The politics of climate alarmism”, I realized that YouTube was posting a message (information panel) under every video that mentioned “climate change”. The message read:

YouTube’s “information panel” about climate changeClimate Change

United Nations

Climate Change refers to long term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns, mainly caused by human activities, especially the burning of fossil fuels.”

This is a redefinition of the term “climate change”. Climate usually means long-term weather, like over a period of 30 years. So “climate change” should mean any change in the climate, regardless of the cause. But the UN has added, “mainly caused by human activities, especially the burning of fossil fuels”. That’s ridiculous, as climate has changed for thousands of years before humans began burning fossil fuels! So this is a special definition that only applies to the last 100 years or so. And even then, it is of debatable accuracy.

See how YouTube explains their information panels in Appendix A. YouTube is owned by Google.

The message from the UN under every Youtube video that mentions “climate change” is linked to a message about “What is climate change?” on the UN’s website (see Appendix B).

Propaganda techniques

Propaganda is a technique used to achieve indoctrination. Some methods used by propagandists include:
– The bandwagon—says that their position is supported by the majority, and so you should support it too.
– Fear—Scare tactics are used to frighten you into supporting a particular cause.
– The big lie—By repeating a certain narrative over and over, it becomes easier and easier for you to believe.
– Name-calling—using derogatory terms to describe an opponent.
– Testimonials—endorsements from famous or respected people or corporations.
– Manipulating Information—distorting or misrepresenting the facts to influence your opinions.

Some examples of these propaganda techniques used by the UN include:
– The bandwagon technique—97% of scientists believe that human activity is the dominant cause of climate change.
– Fear technique—extreme weather will be more severe due to climate change.
– The big lie technique—The message on YouTube and “climate scientists have showed that humans are responsible for virtually all global heating over the last 200 years”.
– Name-calling—Judith Curry is called a “climate denier”.- Testimonials—endorsements by Microsoft and Sony.
– Manipulating Information—the “hockey stick” temperature graph.

So, the YouTube information panel is really a propaganda panel!

Lessons for us

YouTube’s “information panel” about climate change is propaganda for the United Nations. It aims to reduce critical thought on their climate change narrative and agenda.

Let’s recognize propaganda about climate change and resist indoctrination by the United Nations.

Appendix A: YouTube’s explanation

Here’s how YouTube explains their information panels, which are used to counter misinformation.

“When you search or watch videos related to topics that are prone to misinformation, such as the moon landing, you may see an information panel at the top of your search results or under a video that you’re watching.

Information panels show basic background info, sourced from independent, third-party partners, to give more context on a topic. If you want to learn more, the panels also link to the third-party partner’s website.

These information panels will be shown regardless of what opinions or perspectives are expressed in a video.”

Then is makes the ridiculous statement:

“YouTube doesn’t endorse or create any of the info shown in information panels on YouTube.”

If YouTube doesn’t endorse the information, why do they publish it across the internet?

Appendix B: The UN message about climate change

This is an example of the propaganda the UN uses to indoctrinate people like us.

“Climate change refers to long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns. Such shifts can be natural, due to changes in the sun’s activity or large volcanic eruptions. But since the 1800s, human activities have been the main driver of climate change, primarily due to the burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas.

Burning fossil fuels generates greenhouse gas emissions that act like a blanket wrapped around the Earth, trapping the sun’s heat and raising temperatures. Fossil fuels are by far the largest contributor to the greenhouse gas emissions that cause climate change, which poses many risks to all forms of life on Earth …

The main greenhouse gases that are causing climate change include carbon dioxide and methane. These come from using gasoline for driving a car or coal for heating a building, for example. Clearing land and cutting down forests can also release carbon dioxide. Agriculture, oil and gas operations are major sources of methane emissions. Energy, industry, transport, buildings, agriculture and land use are among the main sectors causing greenhouse gases …

Climate scientists have showed that humans are responsible for virtually all global heating over the last 200 years. Human activities like the ones mentioned above are causing greenhouse gases that are warming the world faster than at any time in at least the last two thousand years …

The consequences of climate change now include, among others, intense droughts, water scarcity, severe fires, rising sea levels, flooding, melting polar ice, catastrophic storms and declining biodiversity …

In a series of UN reports, thousands of scientists and government reviewers agreed that limiting global temperature rise to no more than 1.5°C would help us avoid the worst climate impacts and maintain a livable climate …

Everyone must take climate action, but people and countries creating more of the problem have a greater responsibility to act first …

Switching energy systems from fossil fuels to renewables like solar or wind will reduce the emissions driving climate change. But we have to act now. While a growing number of countries is committing to net zero emissions by 2050, emissions must be cut in half by 2030 to keep warming below 1.5°C. Achieving this means huge declines in the use of coal, oil and gas: over two-thirds of today’s proven reserves of fossil fuels need to be kept in the ground by 2050 in order to prevent catastrophic levels of climate change.
