Godliness and wickedness at Beersheba

On 31 October 1917 Beersheba was captured by the Australian Light Horse brigadeThe city of Beersheba in Palestine was captured by the British-led Australian Light Horse in the Battle of Beersheba during World War I (Appendix A). It was the last successful cavalry charge in military history. Approximately 800 Australian soldiers with only horses and bayonets, charged the Turkish trenches, overran them and captured the wells.
