The benefits of carbon dioxide and fossil fuels
Many people are ignorant of the benefits of carbon dioxide and fossil fuels.
Two physicists have issued a technical paper showing that physics demonstrates that increasing greenhouse gases cannot cause dangerous warming, extreme weather or any harm. In particular:
– More carbon dioxide will create more food, and
– Driving greenhouse gas emissions to net zero and eliminating fossil fuels will be disastrous for people worldwide. (more…)

New US climate report
The US Department of Energy (DOE) has just published a report by the 2025 Climate Working Group. The report concludes that carbon dioxide (CO2)-induced warming appears to be less damaging economically than commonly believed, and that aggressive mitigation strategies could be more harmful than beneficial. Additionally, the report finds that US policy actions are expected to have undetectably small direct impacts on the global climate and any effects will emerge only with long delays. (more…)

Climate and the church
The Climate Realism podcast begins with some crazy climate news items.
On 7 February 2025 the third news item was “Going to climate church”. This was based on a WCC news story, “The World Council of Churches (WCC), with churches in the Caribbean and North America debuts training on climate litigation”. “The WCC has offered the first in what will be a series of training workshops on climate litigation. In partnership with the Caribbean and North America Council for Mission (CANACOM), the WCC led the training through a lens of child protection and our future generations.” … “It was the children from our churches who asked us to take this new route of climate litigation, which is new for the WCC and is the only way that really gives solid hope for children in the face of what science tells us about the climate emergency.” (more…)

Is carbon dioxide a pollutant?
On 9th January 2025, nine people were hospitalised due to carbon monoxide poisoning in Hobart, Australia. Authorities say the incident was caused by inadequate ventilation of petrol fumes while cutting concrete. (more…)

Climate change and the Bible
This article comes from Dr Jason Lisle, an astrophysicist of the Biblical Science Institute.
Is climate change real? If so, what is the cause? Is it caused by human activity? And can it be reversed? If so, should it be reversed? Many people have never stopped to consider these questions because they think they already know the answers to all of them. After all, we have been told that climate change is real, dangerous, caused by human activity, and that we should fight it by reducing our carbon footprint. But does science bear out such claims? There is no climate crisis in Australia
This blogpost comes from an interview of the Australian biologist Dr Jennifer Marohasy by Hannes Sarv of Freedom Research.
According to Marohasy, climate change is a natural phenomenon and CO2 has nothing to do with it. In 2017, Marohasy and John Abbot published an article on temperature variations over the last 2,000 years, showing that climate change is not the result of an increase in anthropogenic carbon dioxide over the last century, but a natural process in nature. They used proxy data from tree rings, corals or lake sediments, which express earth’s warming and cooling cycles, with a variation of about 2ºC. Of course, alarmists didn’t agree. (more…)

Testing climate science

Can we change the climate?
Recent floods in far north Queensland took everyone by surprise. It was quite scary, because it happened very quickly. Water started rapidly rising — seemingly out of nowhere. Most people thought that there may be a lot of rain when cyclone Jasper passed but there was no warning that there was going to be millions of litres of water tumbling down the Tableland hill, pushing houses and land to the side. Is there a climate crisis?
Heavy snow has disrupted normal life in Athens. And more than 245 million Americans are expected to face temperatures below freezing in the continental U.S. over the next seven days. The Arctic air from a polar vortex has already set temperature records in numerous states. Record low temperatures are making life miserable in the U.S. The severe winter weather has sparked emergency declarations in at least seven states, including Alabama, Oregon, Oklahoma, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi and Texas. Air traffic was halted at a number of airports. Across the country, at least 36 people have died since the punishing winter weather began last week. It must be global cooling! That’s like what we hear when high temperatures are attributed to global warming. But of course this is weather not climate (which is the weather averaged over 30 years). (more…)

A robust climate?
“By not doing enough to fight global warming, we’re trashing the planet” says National Geographic magazine. “How hot can it get before truly catastrophic changes are set in motion?”. And Wikipedia warns of “abrupt climate change as it approaches and surpasses 2°C above pre-industrial levels”. It also mentions the possibility of “accelerated global warming”, “runaway climate change”, “climate collapse” and “climate apocalypse”. Others mention a “climate emergency”, “climate crisis”, “climate breakdown”, “irreversible climate destabilization”, “abrupt and irreversible environmental changes” and “interconnecting calamities”. That’s alarmist. It’s creating a culture of fear and panic. And climate change is blamed for any extreme weather. But are these warnings justified? (more…)
