Clean forever
Sometimes getting dirty can be fun. Painting, cooking, gardening, sport, can all be activities we do for fun that may get us a little messy. Sometimes getting clean can be fun. Having a shower and putting on fresh clean clothes after a sweaty, muddy, football [soccer] game feels great. (more…)
Is carbon dioxide a pollutant?

Comprehensive outline of the book of Exodus
The second book of the Old Testament, Exodus, was written by Moses. The information in chapter 1:1-2:10 may have come from his parents or his sister, or some other source.
I like having titles on the paragraphs or sections of my Bible. This helps to indicate the context of a particular passage of scripture. A comprehensive outline (section headings) of the book of Exodus is given below. (more…)
Relying on God at Ephesus
Ephesus was one of the largest and wealthiest cities in the eastern Mediterranean area. It had an inland harbor that was connected to the Aegean Sea and a population of about 50,000 people. Because it was also at an intersection of major trade routes, Ephesus became a commercial center. The temple of the Greek goddess Artemis (completed around 550 BC) was located there. This temple was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It was four times larger than the Parthenon. Ephesus was a city of idolatry and pagan superstition. (more…)
Why the Bible can be trusted
Sometimes I get phishing messages from myGov, Centrelink, the tax office, banks, tech support and internet providers. And I see clickbait for investment frauds, fake prizes, fake jobs, shopping scams, romance scams, ticket scams and inheritance scams. And photos and videos can be generated by AI. Did you know that not everything online is true? (more…)
Abortion and the culture of death
How did we get to become a culture that celebrates the choice to kill pre-born babies?
This article comes from Seth Gruber who researched this topic in a documentary, The 1916 project. This is a study of the past in order to understand what’s happening now.
Over 65 million unborn children have been murdered (aborted) in the USA since 1973. What bred this culture of death that is targeting our families? (more…)
False gospels
Recently I attended the funeral of a neighbour. The priest assured us that we will see him in heaven because he had been baptised as a child and he had confessed his mortal sins to the priest at the last rites. Holy water was sprinkled on the coffin as a reminder of his being cleansed of original sin and made a Christian through baptism. This is a different gospel (Gal. 1:6-9) because it contradicts John 14:6 where Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”. The true gospel is to trust in the death and resurrection of Jesus for the forgiveness of sin – no one comes to God except through Jesus. Baptism is not a part of salvation – it’s a consequence, not a cause (Acts 10:47-48; 16:14-15; 31-33; 18:8). (more…)

Prophecies about Jesus: His birthplace

Micah wrote about God’s judgment of Judah and their corrupt leaders for their idolatry and disobedience, and the future restoration of a faithful remnant.
Although they were threatened by foreign nations he wrote, “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah [near Jerusalem], though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times” (Mic. 5:2NIV). “From ancient times” means from the eternal past. Jesus is the eternal God. Micah is saying that their situation would change when the Messiah comes and leads them like a shepherd (Mic. 5:4). (more…)
Prophecies about Jesus: called out of Egypt
Let’s look at another pattern prophecy about Jesus. This is called a “type” or a “typology” where a pattern of events in the Old Testament is repeated in the New Testament. The fulfilment is a similar but greater pattern of events. (more…)
Prophecies about Jesus: His virgin birth
In about 700 BC. the Arameans and the kingdom of Israel planned to attack the kingdom of Judah from the north. This was an attack on a descendant of king David and so was an attack on God’s promise that the Messiah would be a ruler who was a descendant of David. But God told the Judeans not to be afraid and gave them a sign. (more…)

The original Christmas gift
Can you remember what you got for Christmas last year? How about 5 years ago? How about 2000 years ago?
The magic and excitement of receiving gifts at Christmas has somewhat diminished for me as I’ve gotten older. Like most Australians I am blessed with having everything I need and a lot of what I want. Throughout the year I am my own expert self-gifter. I can search and click, and have exactly what I want delivered to my front door within days. It kind of takes the shine off receiving a gift from someone else who may not really know what I like. Climate change and the Bible
This article comes from Dr Jason Lisle, an astrophysicist of the Biblical Science Institute.
Is climate change real? If so, what is the cause? Is it caused by human activity? And can it be reversed? If so, should it be reversed? Many people have never stopped to consider these questions because they think they already know the answers to all of them. After all, we have been told that climate change is real, dangerous, caused by human activity, and that we should fight it by reducing our carbon footprint. But does science bear out such claims? Most importantly, what does the Bible teach on this topic? (more…)
Renewable energy fantasy
Most of this article comes from Russ Schussler, an electrical grid engineer.
In late November NSW faced electricity blackout warnings due to elevated temperatures and reduced coal plant generation. Four of the 12 coal-generation units were offline for maintenance or breakdowns. Although it is being phased out slowly, coal remains the primary source of electricity generation in NSW. (more…)
Thanksgiving Day
Next Thursday is Thanksgiving day in the USA when they share a family meal, attend church services, and view special sporting events. This celebration began when settlers who arrived from England in the 17th century dedicated a day to give thanks for the blessings of the harvest and for the preceding year. The first national Thanksgiving celebration was observed in 1789 by President George Washington. In 1863 it was formalized by a presidential proclamation by Abraham Lincoln.
And in 1941 the date was formalized as the fourth Thursday in November. In Canada, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday in October. (more…)
A thanksgiving prayer
A prayer at the end of a thanksgiving service for an aged care provider.

Our Christian ethos
I’m involved with an aged care provider whose vision is “Christ’s love compels us to care for and enrich our community”. Our mission is “To excel in the provision of loving Christian care for seniors”. And our values include a “Christian ethos”. Our Strategic plan says: “We are a Christian organisation. We believe that all people are created in the image of God and care for those entrusted to us to the best of our God-given ability. Our caring reflects the attitude of service shown by Jesus Christ. Our work is not ‘just a job’ but an opportunity to serve others.” Our Christian ethos can make a difference to the people around us. (more…)
Don’t forget to remember
How you remember things? Some people use mnemonics like “ROY G. BIV” for the colors of the rainbow. Or in sheet music, “Every good boy deserves fruit” for the treble lines and “FACE” for the treble spaces. And “Good burritos don’t fall apart” for the bass lines and “All cows eat grass” for the bass spaces. Or “Eddy ate dynamite, good bye Eddy” for the strings of a guitar. Or “All stations to central” or “All students take care” or “Add sugar to coffee” for the signs of trigonometric functions. (more…)
The cure for death
What would you be willing to do or sacrifice if it meant having the cure for death? The shadow of death looms over all our lives – rich or poor, young or old. It is the great inescapable equaliser that cuts across nationality, social status, physical ability, gender, sexuality, and belief. (more…)
The fatal flaw in Artificial Intelligence
AI’s role in amplifying dominant narratives will continue to stifle dissent, limit open debate, and impose restrictive controls on society. If we allow this to continue unchecked, AI will become a tool for shaping thought, controlling discourse, and eroding the very freedoms it was meant to empower.
